Exciting news for rugby enthusiasts as the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team is set to compete in the 2025 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s in January.
This announcement was made by the Fijian Drua and the tournament organisers in Sigatoka yesterday.
The McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast7s has always been a popular event, attracting renowned rugby personalities and legends in the past. Names such as Waisale Serevi, Jonah Lomu, Rasta Rasivhenge, George Gregan, Bryan Habana, and Dan Norton have graced the tournament, with some even being honored on Sigatoka’s “Rugby Town Walk of Fame”.
Drua head coach Glen Jackson expressed his excitement about participating in the tournament, stating that it is a great opportunity for the Drua team to showcase their talent in the 7s format.
Fans can expect to see their favourite Drua players alongside the development team members, all eager to test their skills against some of the best 7s players in the country.
“It’s a chance to pit their skills, which is primarily in 15s rugby, against some of the most talented 7s players in the country,” said Jackson.

“We’ll be there at the tournament lending our support to this wonderful tournament, which exposes top rugby talents who then got to greater things in 7s and 15s rugby.”
Chairman of the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s organising committee Jay Whyte expressed his gratitude for the Drua team’s participation.
He thanked Mark Evans and head coach Jackson for their support in making this collaboration possible.
“The people of Fiji absolutely love their Drua team as shown in the fact 55 per cent of the nation tune in to watch them anytime, they are playing, this is the level of support they garner which is simply phenomenal.
“We look forward to seeing what our Drua boys, going up against the best from Fiji and the world over the three days in rugby town Sigatoka.”
The McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s will take place from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
