Survival of the fittest at Lawaqa Park – 2026 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s

December 4, 2025

A LINE-UP of 28 teams split up in seven pools will make up the Super 7s Qualifier of the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s tournament this Saturday.

The qualifiers will see teams battle it out in the pool stages and each game will be a crucial one since the top two teams from each pool qualify for the round of 16.

At this stage, the winners of the quarter-finals will progress onto the main Coral Coast 7s competition while the losing four teams will move onto the semi-finals.

The two winners from this stage will join the four teams that qualified from the quarter-finals while the losing two will head into the final, where the winner will join the other six teams that have qualified earlier.

In total, seven teams from the qualifying competition will move into the main competition.

McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s founding chair Jay Whyte said the qualifiers were devised as a manner of letting the teams qualify themselves for the larger tournament.

“We went back to where we started in the early days, and instead of cherry picking or someone making an indicative decision as to who makes it, we said, let’s let the teams qualify themselves,” Whyte told Times Sport yesterday.

The qualifiers will take place at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka with matches starting at 8.30am.

Pool A: Devo Babas, Island Magic Daveta, Tubarua Highlanders, C3 Brothers. Pool B: Ratu Filise, Kesenavunivalu Rugby, Suva Stallions, St Gabriel Nakavika. Pool C: Uso Tasi Rugby, Lami Cavaliers, Pegasus Rugby, Yaro Chiefs. Pool D: Covenant Rugby, Ravuka Sharks, Yalova Spearhead, Dominion Brothers.

Pool E: Flame Tree Waimanu, Tuva Rugby, Deii Westfield, Lomaiviti. Pool F: Vacalea Young Boys, Taikita Brothers, Nahehevia Patriot, Islanders Rugby. Pool G: Police Blue, Army Green, Wardens, FSC Grassroots Fiji.
