$1.5M Renovations At Warwick Fiji on Fiji’s Coral Coast

June 28, 2022

Warwick Fiji Senior Vice President of Warwick Hotels and Resorts International and Executive Director–Pacific, Tammie Tam, said renovations was estimated at $1.5 million for 144 of its 200-plus rooms.

Renovations will commence next month at a Coral Coast resort, as the first 50 rooms will be demolished.

Warwick Fiji, Senior Vice President of Warwick Hotels and Resorts International and Executive Director–Pacific, Tammie Tam, said renovations was estimated at $1.5 million for 144 of its 200-plus rooms.

The five-star property expects to regain its 2018 booking capacity in the months leading up to September, she said.

“We’re ready to sign the contract with contractor,” she said following the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association annual general meeting at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.

“If we had done the renovations earlier, we could have used the 50 rooms,” Ms Tam said.

“We hope to finish the 50 rooms in three four months’ time, before we start with the next launch.

“We’re going to change the tiles, the furniture – everything.”

Warwick Fiji reopened in December, following the COVID-19 pandemic, it was selling 200 rooms, Ms Tam said.

“At the moment, we are selling 200 rooms,” she said.

Moves are also afoot to improve the resort’s food and beverage facilities, and its foreshore, Ms Tam said.

A king tide in recent weeks damaged the resort’s jetties.

“We’re going to rebuild it, because we are thinking of building some additional facilities along there,” Ms Tam said.

She said had little time to take precautionary measures prior to the king tide, as the authorities provided forewarning at short notice.

The resort’s popular glass bottom boat will need to be rebuilt, as it was not spared in the tidal onslaught.

Additional dining facilities will be factored into the renovations, along with expansion of the resort’s kitchen and lounge area, Ms Tam said.

“They are going to be more tourists coming,” she said.

“We’re going to be busy.”

“And we need additional facilities.”
