Outrigger Fiji staff learn ‘Gould-en’ swimming tips

May 16, 2019

Outrigger Fiji staff have had a chance of a lifetime learning swimming techniques from three-time Olympic swim gold medalist Shane Gould and her husband, expert swim coach Milton Nelms.

The duo conducted a week long swim clinic with the staff at the resorts main swimming pool.

The lessons which focused on proper swimming techniques as well as breathing under water has been very helpful with these staff that look after and interact with children at the resort.

“I learnt how to swim as a child at Veiuto Primary school, but the lessons from Milt and Shane has really taught me how to control my breathing whilst swimming, to use the dormant part of my brain to allow me to breathe better under water”, Activities attendant Sepesa Leweniqila said.

“As a Meimei Nanny, I am responsible for children and knowing how to swim properly is so important for our work. These lessons have taught me how to control my breathing, as well as a more relaxed method of swimming, so that I take control of my environment,” Meimei Nanny Maca Kabakoro stated.
