Coral Coast 7s will be bigger says organizers

McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s

The McDonalds Coral Coast 7s will bring in a record number of overseas teams for the first time.

Following a two-year hiatus, the tournament which is one of the hailed 7s tournament’s in the country will bring in fresh teams that will provide a good challenge on the local rugby 7s scene.

Coral Coast 7s Committee Member, Russel Blaik says the teams bring their own unique style of rugby which will make the tournament an exciting one.

“Yes we’ve got teams coming from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, a Women’s team coming out of Scandinavia this year, and of course the USA as well”

New teams will be seen in the youth, men’s as well as the women’s division.

The tournament kicks off on January 12th 2023 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

AFTER the forced hiatus because of the global pandemic, the return to the Fijian sporting landscape of the premier 7s event in the South Pacific, the 11th annual McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast Sevens, the tournament is thrilled to announce that Rugby Australia has confirmed that both the Australian A Women’s team and Australian Schoolboys team will compete in January’s event at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

The McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s will return next year after a two-year absence and it is expected to be bigger and more exciting with top local and international teams participating, top international commentary team’s inclusion and a world renowned Rugby 7’s player, Collins Injera as the tournament ambassador.
