The mention of Sunset Strip may trigger your general knowledge of the 1.5 mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard that traverses through the city of West Hollywood in California. The strip is one of the most exquisite places around known for its collection of boutiques, bistros, night revelry spots and captivating billboards.

But in Fiji, the Sunset Strip is one of the most under-appreciated places on the Coral Coast.

Killing time in Fiji’s craft beer scene

Mokusiga could be the term we’ve all been looking for as we bide our time for better days ahead amid the hazy funk brought on by COVID-19.

In Fijian, it’s an amalgamation of the words for kill (moku) and day (siga) and it’s the local slang to describe the act of killing time.

It’s pronounced with an ‘n ‘sound before the ‘g’ – as in moku-sing-ah. It’s also the name of Fiji’s first craft beer range made by a couple of mates who met at The University of Sydney.

Locals urged to explore attractions on Coral Coast

Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort is looking to tap into the local tourist market as it awaits Fiji’s borders to reopen for international visitors with many attractions on Coral Coast.

Resort general manager Darren Shaw said there were a number of appealing offers for local visitors. “Fijians have a fantastic opportunity to get out and about and explore our wonderful resorts and world-class tourist attractions,” he said.

Love our locals campaign – June 2020

Ready for a holiday or weekend break? Tourism Fiji recently launched its Love our Locals campaign.

Supported by tourism industry stakeholders, the “Love Our Locals Fiji” campaign plays out primarily on social media and includes the creation of a Facebook group where industry operators can communicate specials, exclusive to Fiji residents.

The campaign embraces the spirit of love through action in the face of an industry and Fijians that are hurting.
